Terms of Service for ClimbLogger

1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using ClimbLogger ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
ClimbLogger is a mobile application for iOS and Apple Watch that allows users to:
- Track climbing sessions with route details, grades, and styles
- Monitor altitude and elevation via GPS
- Track heart rate during sessions (Apple Watch)
- Sync data between iPhone and Apple Watch
- Integrate with Strava to share climbing activities
- Generate and share climbing statistics and infographics
3. Use of the App
You agree to use ClimbLogger only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Use the App in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Use the App to transmit malicious code or viruses
- Interfere with or disrupt the App or its functionality
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App
4. Strava Integration
By connecting your Strava account to ClimbLogger, you authorize the App to:
- Access your Strava athlete information
- Create climbing activities on your Strava profile
- Upload session data and infographics to your Strava activities
You retain full control:
- You can disconnect Strava at any time in the App settings
- You can delete any synced activities directly on Strava
- ClimbLogger will only create activities when you explicitly sync a session
You acknowledge that your use of Strava is subject to Strava's Terms of Service.
5. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- The accuracy of data you log in the App
- Your own safety while climbing
- Ensuring you have permission to climb in the locations you track
- Complying with local laws and regulations regarding GPS tracking
⚠️ Safety Notice:
- Do not use the App while actively climbing - focus on climbing safely
- Log routes during rest periods or after climbing
- GPS and heart rate data may be inaccurate
- Do not rely solely on the App for safety-critical decisions
6. Location and Health Data
ClimbLogger uses:
- Location Services: To track altitude during climbing sessions
- Apple Health: To read heart rate data (requires your permission)
You can revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
7. Intellectual Property
ClimbLogger and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Marius Arnesen and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You retain ownership of:
- Your climbing session data
- Generated infographics
- Your custom disciplines, grading systems, and styles
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Warranties of merchantability
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Non-infringement
- Accuracy, reliability, or availability
We do not guarantee that:
- The App will be error-free or uninterrupted
- Defects will be corrected
- GPS or heart rate data will be accurate
- Strava integration will always be available
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CLIMBLOGGER AND ITS DEVELOPERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any injuries or accidents occurring while climbing
- Inaccurate GPS or heart rate data
- Loss of data or session information
- Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, or data
⚠️ Climbing is Dangerous:
Rock climbing and bouldering are inherently dangerous activities. ClimbLogger is a tracking tool only and does not replace proper training, equipment, or judgment. Always climb with appropriate safety measures and never rely solely on any app for safety decisions.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ClimbLogger and its developers from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:
- Your use of the App
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of another person or entity
- Any climbing accidents or injuries
11. Data Storage and Backup
All data is stored locally on your device. You are responsible for:
- Backing up your device through iCloud or iTunes
- Ensuring you don't lose session data by deleting the App
We are not responsible for any data loss.
12. Third-Party Services
ClimbLogger integrates with third-party services:

13. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting in the App or on our website. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
14. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without notice, for:
- Violation of these Terms
- Fraudulent or illegal activity
- Abuse of the Strava integration
You may terminate your use of the App at any time by deleting it from your device.
15. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

4. Brukeransvar
- Du er ansvarlig for nøyaktigheten av data du logger
- Ikke bruk appen mens du aktivt klatrer
- GPS og pulsdata kan være unøyaktig
5. Ansvarsfraskrivelse
⚠️ Viktig:
Klatring er farlig. ClimbLogger er kun et sporingsverktøy og erstatter ikke god trening, utstyr eller dømmekraft. Alltid klatre med riktige sikkerhetstiltak.
